Legacy Resident Home Repair Program
The Challenge
Greenmount West has more than fifty long-time homeowners of low and moderate income. Many of their houses are in disrepair and community members raised a concern that these low-income “legacy” residents were unable to maintain their homes and could be forced to move.
The Solution
Jubilee Baltimore has been helping low-income legacy homeowners to assess their housing needs and identify/ navigate existing home repair programs. We have raised $150,000 to use for repairs that could not be addressed by any existing programs.
Results
This work helps legacy homeowners and strengthens the neighborhood by improving the look of houses that now look blighted. Because of the success of this program in Greenmount West, we are expanding this program throughout Central Baltimore.
