The Challenge
In the 1990s the community leaders of Southeast Baltimore judged that affordable housing for seniors was the most pressing need in their communities. Several groups worked with Jubilee to build senior housing, including the Lord Baltimore Chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA,) the largest organization of Greek-Americans.
The Solution
Jubilee and AHEPA worked together to create a remarkable building. AHEPA Senior Housing offers affordable housing with beautiful harbor views on the “Gold Coast” of Canton.
Results
AHEPA makes it possible for seniors of limited income to live in Canton, one of Baltimore’s most heavily gentrified waterfront neighborhoods. For this project, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development selected Jubilee as “Developer of the Year”.
